This painting was inspired by a number of beautiful adobe buildings in Santa Fe. Part of the charm and warmth of Santa Fe comes from the countless buildings that continue to be constructed with traditional adobe. These adobe structures are beautiful by themselves but they become even more impressive when combined by the rich colors of New Mexico including the deep blue sky and colorful trees, flowers, and other plants. Santa Fe is the oldest state capital in the United States. It was founded as a Spanish colony in 1608 and became capital of the territory in 1610. Santa Fe is also the highest elevation state capital in the United States at 7,000 feet above sea level. Santa Fe also has the oldest road built by Europeans in the United States and is the 3rd largest art market in the United States. Santa Fe is a stunningly unique and beautiful city with rich heritage, culture, and history that make it an incredible place to visit!
