This painting was inspired by the beautiful Aspen trees in the Jemez Mountains of northern New Mexico. The Jemez mountains are stunning anytime of the year but they are even more brilliantly beautiful during the fall, when the leaves change to various colors of gold, yellow, orange, red, and brown before finally falling off and giving way to winter. The contrast between the colorful leaves and the unchanging evergreen trees nestled in the ruggedly beautiful Jemez mountains is truly breathtaking. Visitors need to be careful as the snow can make roads treacherous at times, but the brilliant beauty of the Jemez Mountains during the fall and winter is an absolute wonder to behold.
