Lookout Mesa

Dimensions: 15" x 30"
Media: Oil

This painting was inspired by a beautiful mesa near Los Alamos and White Rock along the road going towards Pojoaque. White Rock is a small town which was originally established in 1953, abandoned, then established again in 1962. The town grew primarily as a place to live for employees of Los Alamos National Laboratory. Pojoaque is a small community of a couple thousand people near the Indian Reservation of Pojoaque Pueblo and Santa Fe. Pojoaque Pueblo was settled around 500 A.D. and is a member of the Eight Northern Pueblos. Pojoaque originated with a Spanish Mission named San Francisco de Pojoaque in the 17th century.
