This painting was inspired by a beautiful gate at a residence near Santa Fe. The image captures very traditional northern New Mexico scenery with the beautiful, warm, and welcoming adobe wall blending with the natural beauty of the desert. Traditional New Mexico structures blend the natural warm beauty of adobe with bright and bold reds or blues for gates, doors, and window frames. In this case, the red gate created a beautiful contrast with the green plants landscaping this residence both outside, and inside, the wall. Santa Fe, and surrounding area, is full of countless such scenes combining rich tradition from Spanish and Native American influence along with countless other newer influences in the art and culture rich city of Santa Fe.
