This painting was inspired by a rural house on the outskirts of Santa Fe. Santa Fe is the capital of New Mexico and the oldest city in the United states to be a state capital. The city is a wonderful place to live and is surrounded by rural housing areas for people who want to live closer to the natural beauty of the state. At approximately 7,000 feet elevation, Santa Fe has a mix of high desert landscape and mountains (the southern end of the Rocky Mountains).
