This painting was inspired by the natural beauty around the Pueblo of San Felipe located along the Rio Grande river between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. The pueblo was founded in 1706 and is both rustic and rural with a population of around two thousand people made up almost exclusively of Native Americans. Too many people only take the time to stop by the casino located along I-25 but don't take the time to appreciate the natural beauty of the area. The Rio Grande river provides opportunity for farming and adds incredible beauty with the majestic trees growing around the life giving water of the river. The scene that inspired this picture was a stunning view of the mountains in the background with a brilliant blue sky overhead and the natural New Mexico desert in the foreground combining together to create incredible beauty and tranquility.
